Cutting Time to Insight: Streamlined Pharmaceutical Research With Scalable HPC
Back to Technical ContentThe Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre (CCDC) advances AI-driven pharmaceutical research with Viridien HPC Cloud, achieving 4x faster AI model training and enabling greater experimentation at scale. High-performance GPU resources accelerate model development, increase confidence in predictive results, and support more efficient drug formulation research.
CHALLENGE
Predicting which coformers are most likely to co-crystallize with a given drug requires significant computing power to train and optimize AI models. The Cambridge Crystallographic Data Centre (CCDC) needed a faster, more scalable approach to accelerate experimentation, improve model development, and advance pharmaceutical research. Key challenges included:
- Limited GPU power - constrained AI model training with in-house resources
- Incompatible scheduling - limited access to academic HPC resources
- Duration of model training - individual tests can take up to a month
- AI model trial-and-error tuning - difficult to reach at scale
RESULTS
With 4x faster AI model training, the CCDC can test more model configurations and validate model performance with greater confidence. Powered by Viridien's scalable HPC Cloud capabilities, researchers can streamline experimentation and accelerate pharmaceutical research.
- Faster innovation - 4x faster model training
- Research agility - greater flexibility to test more AI configurations
- Improved confidence - validate model accuracy and performance
