HPC Perspectives: Episode 6

Gemma joined AstraZeneca in 2023, having worked at the interface of chemistry and biology for over 20 years. Following her degree in Chemistry from the University of St Andrews, Gemma obtained a PhD in Cheminformatics from the University of Cambridge. After working for 6 years as a Research Scientist for the European Bioinformatics institute, Gemma relocated to the University of California, San Francisco and accepted a role as the Executive Director of the Structure-Function Link Database where she remained for 5 years before moving into industry as a Bioinformatics Data Scientist and Lead Cheminformatician for Medicines Discovery Catapult. Today, at AstraZeneca, Gemma is part of the team responsible for enabling the digitisation journey of the Pharmaceutical Sciences division. Outside of work, she enjoys tabletop roleplaying games, writing, the great outdoors and spending time with family, friends, and dogs.
