Reduce Near-Field Exploration Risk in the Northern North Sea with Dual-Azimuth Coverage
Viridien provides a comprehensive regional dataset spanning over 44,000 km2 of high-quality North-South PSDM data across the Northern North Sea, including the Norwegian and UK sectors.
Building on this substantial data library, Viridien has recently acquired more than 28,000 km2 of East-West 3D seismic data, enabling the creation of a dual-azimuth volume. This includes the NVG Hybrid dataset, which features an advanced acquisition approach that integrates full-waveform inversion (FWI) using sparsely distributed nodes alongside traditional streamer data.
Further expansions to the NVG survey in 2024 included new East-West data and sparse node acquisition, extending coverage into the Norwegian Sea and Møre Basin—further enriching the regional seismic offering.
Ready to explore with confidence? Gain deeper subsurface insights with our datasets—designed to help you:
- Identify and mitigate near-field exploration risks
- Support the maturation of stranded discoveries into development opportunities
- Improve imaging of multi-directional fault systems
- Deliver higher resolution for interpreting complex reservoir stratigraphy

NVG Dual Azimuth
New East-West acquisition is being combined with a full reprocessing of the underlying NVG North-South data to generate a dual-azimuth seismic data set.

Innovative, hybrid acquisition for greater uplift
The NVG Hybrid seismic dataset, covering the Oseberg and Martin Linge fields, optimizes full-waveform inversion (FWI) through sparsely distributed nodes in combination with streamer acquisition. By applying time-lag FWI (TLFWI) using offsets up to 60 km, we have greatly improved our velocity modeling and imaging capabilities of deeper and more complex subsurface targets.
