Lithium is a critical element for the energy transition: “As demand for lithium soars and supply remains limited to a few countries, the search for alternative sources and the acceleration of additional lithium production are intensifying.”, says Edward. An advanced understanding of how lithium moves at, and near, the earth's surface is therefore key to enabling more effective exploration strategies.

In this video, Edward suggests that a comprehensive understanding of the lithium mineral system would enable the use of innovative exploration techniques to discover new lithium deposits. Viridien has developed an integrated global lithium exploration tool by combining the expertise of their Minerals & Mining, Satellite Mapping, Earth data and data science teams. The tool helps evaluate ongoing projects and identify potential targets for further investigation.

Lithium demand is expected to grow eightfold this decade and Viridien aims to contribute to meeting this need by continuing to develop its centre of excellence to better understand lithium deposits, and providing innovative solutions for the exploration of this critical mineral.
